The Chemical Engineering Department is one of the premier engineering departments of NIt, Jalandhar. It is a dynamic and goal oriented group of highly qualified and experienced faculty well supported by experienced technical staff and a large and modern research and development infrastructure.The department aims to create an ambience for smooth pursuit of activity in education and research towards creating national impact in the chemical related areas and endeavours to produce leaders of tomorrow in this field. The Department offers instructions at undergraduate level leading to 4 year B. Tech degree, Part Time B.Tech Degree and at postgraduate level leading to M.Tech./M.Tech (By Research) and Ph.D. degrees. The instruction at the undergraduate level aims at providing the students a broad-based education with emphasis on theory and practice of Chemical Engineering keeping in views the current and future requirements of the country. At the postgraduate level, students are trained to assume independent responsibilities laying emphasis again on the country’s Current and future requirements in industry, R&D organizations, design firms and academic institutions. Opportunities are provided to the students at all levels to get acquainted with the latest developments in the various areas of Chemical Engineering. The Department maintains close association with a large number of chemical industries and design organizations, and continuously upgrades the course curriculum. Students are encouraged to identify industrial problems and participate actively in sponsored programs from outside. In-plant training in industrial organizations is a part of the regular undergraduate curriculum. The Department is well equipped for carrying out basic and applied research leading to the degrees of M.Tech/M.Tech (By Research) and Ph.D. These serve the multiple purposes of training the undergraduate students as well as carrying out research work for final application to solve industrial problems.
